Bulldogs Fight Back to Tie Braintree

The Canton Bulldogs were back in action Saturday afternoon taking on another tough customer in the Braintree Wamps. This was a huge game because it was one of the hardest tests the Bulldogs have seen all season and their first game back from their loss against Lincoln Sudbury. The Zap was packed and it wasn’t just because it was Braintree’s senior night, a very big showing from the town of Canton filled the stands as they showed their support for their team. It was hard to hear because of all the ruckus and commotion but Canton was locked in and ready for yet another challenge. The Bulldogs were given some good news earlier in the day before the game even started when they found out senior captain Tommy Ghostlaw would be in the lineup for the first time in several months. Ghostlaw came out flying along with the rest of the Bulldogs as they pounced on every opportunity they could but were dead locked at a 0-0 tie after one period of play. The Wamps grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second because the Bulldogs were outworked, tired, and couldn’t get anything going offensively. The third period was a different story. As the fans found out on Wednesday, the Bulldogs are never a team that surrenders or gives up no matter the score. The Bulldogs needed some luck and that’s exactly what they got when senior forward Tommy Vaughan smoked a shot past the shoulder of the Braintree goalie from the top of the right circle. This cut the lead to 2-1 and gave the town of Canton something to cheer about. With about five minutes left in the game, freshman defenceman Vinny Sica erased the Wamps lead with a laser of a shot from the left point. The Bulldog fan base and bench were ecstatic. The goalies kept the game tied for the final five minutes and the two teams earned themselves each a point in the draw. The Bulldogs still have a few games left this week and need to find a way to start getting back on top and winning games. Every team goes through hard times and slumps, but the teams that find success are the ones that come together no matter the circumstances and keep pushing and giving all they have.
