Franklin. This game is always one of the biggest of the season. The team preached all week long that this game was very important and would be different than the last time these two teams squared off. Before the game the 2010 Championship team was recognized for their tremendous underdog season. Many people from the community were in attendance including former Canton High School hockey star and current New Jersey Devils centerman Kevin Rooney who was a member of the 2010 team. The game started off slow for Canton and they were pressured in their own end for most of the beginning of the first period. In the closing minute of the first Franklin scored on a rebound chance right outside the crease. The stage was set for the Bulldogs and it was up to them to get back in the game and win the period. Just four minutes in they put the pressure on when John Hagan found Jack Connolly in the high slot area that he buried top shelf. On the play Eamon Kelly set up the play with a great rush and Chris Lavoie had a great net front presence. The momentum build up didn’t quit for the Bulldogs as Owen Lehane kept the train moving with a quick shot from the point. The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead into the third, though it was a goal game the Bulldogs were in complete control and were determined to win the final period to finish off the Panthers. It only took two minutes into the third period for the Bulldogs to grab an insurance goal, it came off the stick of junior winger Dylan Coyne after he ripped a shot from the blue line. Canton continued to pressure the Panthers until the very end, holding their composure on multiple occasions. In front of a packed house, the Bulldogs got a statement win and improve to an electrifying 11-0-2 record.
