Tryouts for the CHS Boys Ice Hockey team begin on Monday, November 29th at Ponky (Metropolis Rink). Times are as follows:
3:00 PM: All 11th/12th graders and all returning varsity players
3:50 PM: 9th and 10th graders
On Sunday night, all players will be emailed a Day 1 practice plan along with a jersey color assignment (white or green/dark). Players should have provided a non-Canton Public Schools email address on this Google Form to receive emails from Coach Shuman with daily tryouts practice plans and updates. They should check their email nightly for important information.
Players who are hoping to make the JV team for the first time are encouraged to wear a jersey with a nameplate on the back.
Day 2 tryouts will be held on Tuesday, November 30th at Ponky. On Monday night, players will be emailed to let them know whether they will participate in the Varsity tryout at 4:50 PM or the JV tryout at 5:45 PM. All players will receive at least three tryouts, with some decisions made on Wednesday afternoon and remaining decisions made on Thursday afternoon. All players will have a short meeting with a coach on either Wednesday or Thursday after tryouts to hear roster decisions and playing time predictions. No lists will be posted. Unfortunately not everyone may be offered a spot on the JV or varsity team. Cuts may include some 9th graders and/or players who have made the JV team in the past. There will most likely be cuts in all positions, including goaltenders.
